On Friday 2nd December, children enjoyed learning about Christmas celebrations and traditions from around the world. Staff and children had an exciting day finding out how other children, from around the world, enjoy their Christmas.
The Infants visited Mexico, Sweden, Germany and Italy. The children heard 'The Legend of Poinsettia' and made their own poinsettia flower and learnt about Swedish Christmas traditions and decorated gingerbread. After learning about Italian Christmas traditions, the children made Befana bags and tasted panettone!
The Upper Juniors learnt about French, German and Swedish traditions. They enjoyed making traditional french garlands, decorating gingerbread, making tree decorations and decorated a plate for under the tree.
In Years 3 and 4 the children learnt about traditions in Germany,France and Iceland.They decorated gardlands for a christmas tree, decorated gingerbread and learnt about the Icelandic 'jolasveinar' (christmas trolls).
