We have the privilege of welcoming your child into our school community and helping them with their first steps, in what we believe, will be a lifetime love of learning.
In our Nursery class, children are supported and encouraged to follow their natural desire to explore, investigate and learn through play. Children are supported by Miss Stott, the nursery teacher along with our teaching assistants, Miss Smith and Mrs Segree.
Throughout the year we investigate and talk about the world around us; our community, our environment and the wider world. Stories and songs are core to our learning in nursery and we spend every day listening to and sharing books as well as enjoying a singsong together. We investigate numbers and mathematical patterns through practical play and like to embrace our creative side by experimenting with a variety of materials and art and craft techniques.
Learning outdoors is a key component of early years development so, whatever the weather, we will spend time each day exploring our outdoor space.
Through play, children have the opportunity to try new ideas, find out how things work and follow their imagination. Perhaps Albert Einstein put it best “Play is the highest form of research”.
Pupils very much enjoy coming to school... They feel safe in the stimulating environment into which they are warmly welcomed... One pupil stated that, ‘You can be yourself here.’
